BELOS. Mars 2011.

 March 25th, 2011

After spending five months at the Cityvarvet shipyard, the HMS Belos III of the Swedish Navy left Gothenburg last week to go back home to Karlskrona again.

The vessel has been through a large five year general survey. GDA Sverige AB has been responsible for the maintenance and modification of the diving system.

Some examples of work completed:

- New automatic main diver umbilical winch. Previously three men were needed to handle the umbilical. Now one man can do the same job.

- New climate system for the pressure chambers in order to give a visiting submarine crew a comfortable climate.

- New equipment and new breathing gases to facilitate deeper diving.

- New sea water heater to keep divers warm during underwater work.

- Pressure testing of all gas pipes and pressure vessels.

GDA has had eight people full time on this project during the shipyard visit.

The crew and the customer (FMV), was very pleased with the survey.
